Understanding CUP and its treatment
The articles below may help inform those who want more details about CUP from different perspectives. The Nursing Times article is a short and simple overview whilst the British Journal of Nursing article goes into more scientific detail. The article in Cancer Nursing Practice looks at the dilemmas and choices facing clinicians and CUP patients, particularly those with advanced disease. The MIMS article and the Oncology article are more technical but may be useful to some patients and carers as well as clinicians and researchers.

Most of our information is web-based although we have a brochure for general information and fundraising purposes. A CUP booklet "Understanding cancer of unknown primary" is available from Macmillan Cancer Support on request.
The one page Q&A sheet below is easy to print-off and can also help with understanding CUP. Patient's Questions are posed by Jo's friends Director and Answers are given by oncologist Dr Harpreet Wasan.
Dr Mark Porter on BBC R4's Casenotes discusses CUP in this download (29 Mins) broadcast on 9 Feb 2010.
For personal views of Jo's experiences leading to the foundation of Jo's friends see Fighting the invisible cancer on CNN.com; and an article in Yours magazine. For a more specific discussion on the treatment approach using molecular profiling, see the New York Times article: Genetic tests may reveal source of mystery tumors .
